Crazy_Duck has a nice story that he broke up into several parts.  I hadn't decided to put it all in as one post, or several, until this morning.  So, I will also be posting it in several parts.

It was a clear night, he sat behind the wheel driving down a remote stretch of highway, thinking about his life, and how it seemed like he’d done nothing with it. As the countryside went from his windshield to his rear-view mirror, he thought about how before he started driving, he had only seen eleven of the fifty states, now he had seen all but seven, and two of the seven were Alaska and Hawaii. He thought about how he was in a dead end relationship when he started truck driving school, how it was becoming the perfect time to drive. He had no children, soon no girlfriend, and no job, and now he’d been driving for a year. One thing he had learned in the year he’d been driving is that the road, although sometimes winding and treacherous, always leads to a place he’d like to be, eventually. One day in Houston, a week later in mid-Missouri. He could also always find time on the road to think about anything and everything he ever wanted to ponder.

It seemed in his year of driving, he had manage to make himself feel more and more lonely… even when he was home, spending time with his family, he still felt alone. “Perhaps this is the life, I have chosen for myself? To be alone, lonely, and always in search of love.” His thoughts were interrupted by a female voice calling on the CB radio.

“Hey driver you got your radio on?” the female voice asked. He looked ahead of his truck for oncoming traffic… none. Then he looked in his rear-view mirrors, there was another truck, about a quarter mile behind him and slowly gaining. “It’s only you and me on this highway, and I would rather run with someone than drive it alone,” she was talking blindly, not knowing if he had his radio on or not.

“Yeah, I have my radio on, my truck will only run 65, if that’s OK, I wouldn’t mind you running with me,” he finally answered with a bit of relief. “Someone to talk to, good that’ll get my mind off of depressing things for a while.,” the thought to himself.

“How far you going tonight driver?” she asked.

“There’s a company terminal about three hours up the road, I was going to stop there for the night,” he replied.

“What a coincidence, me too, I work for the same company you do,” she said with a hint of joy in her voice.

“Well, I’m getting a bit hungry, would you like to join me for dinner at the next truck stop?” he requested. He was unsure if she’d say yes, but if nothing else so far she was turning out to be good company, and they could talk about personal things over a table, versus over the radio.

“Sure driver, but I’m not coming over to your truck,” she laughed.

“OK, let’s see if we can’t find a couple easy spaces to get into,” he keyed the mic as they pulled into the truck stop. He looked at the spaces near the front. There were a few open spaces, but they looked kind of hard to get into. He drove to the back, “Oh would ya look at that, two spaces right in the corner,” he said to her over the radio.

“I got dibs on the one in the corner!” she exclaimed.

“OK then, let me just put my truck in the other and it’s all yours.” He backed his truck in and set the brakes. He watched as she set herself up perfectly for the back and was in the space in no time. As they turned on their dome lights to fill out their log books, and they realized that they did so at the same time, while trying to see the other one in the dark. He was somewhat surprised at how she looked. Most of the female drivers were either dog ugly, or had a male companion in the truck with them. She was a solo driver. He thought to himself, “Good god, she is the best looking female driver I have ever seen. What is she doing driving solo?” He just sat there, staring at her, then she smiled and grabbed her mic.

“Driver, if you take a picture it’ll last longer,” she laughed.

“Yeah, I could, but pictures often don’t capture the full beauty of the subject,” he replied into the mic with a half smile.

“Alright then, smooth operator, let’s go get something to eat,” she said as she shut her truck off.

They exited their trucks and waked in. He intentionally walked a few steps behind her to check out her figure. She was about his age, and apparently took care of herself. She was about 5 foot 6 inches tall, nice full firm breasts, shapely ass, and just heavy enough to not look like she was suffering from an eating disorder. He also noticed that she had no rings on her fingers. When they got to the door she paused a moment and looked to see how far he was behind her. He quickly had to adjust his look from her ass to her face. He then noticed, she wasn’t looking at his face, she was checking him out the same way he did her. Her gaze quickly went to his face as he opened the door for her. He followed her in, again finding himself looking at her butt, but this time he was smiling to himself. They stopped at the entrance to the restaurant and looked at each other.

“Smoking or non?” he asked her.

“Smoking, if I didn’t have my cigarettes I think I’d just flip out and run every 4-wheeler that pissed me off clear into the ditch,” she laughed. He looked into her eyes as she was saying that, and saw a softness. He knew she’d never do that, but every driver would like to every now and then.
They sat in a corner booth that was way too large for just the two of them. They scooted in so they weren’t in each others way, but still kept a comfortable closeness. The waitress came over and took their drink orders and left menus. They started browsing then menus without saying a word. Every so often they shot a glace at each other, trying to get a peek at the other without notice.

“Oh man, that looks so good, I think I’m going to get that,” she said as she leaned over closer to him pointing at a steak in the menu. He could smell whatever scent she was wearing and it was intoxicating his senses. So intoxicating that he could not say anything, until she looked him directly in the eyes, then there was a pause.

“Oh… yeah… the steak looks awesome, I think I’ll have that too…” he managed to say as he looked away coyly. She sat back up straight and he looked back at her. “How do you like your steak cooked?”

“Medium well, that way it’s sure not to be too tough,” she answered.

“Well…” he started with a half smile, ”I like my steaks like I like my women.”

“How’s that?” she questioned.

“Hot and pink in the middle,” he replied as his half smile became a full smile and he winked.

“Well now, I think I might have those criteria covered,” she said with a smile and a wink of her own.

Her reaction shocked him. That line was so cheesy, all it was ever really good for was a laugh, but she didn’t laugh… she flirted right back, and with a wink! He didn’t know what to say, he just sat there in amazement, staring at her. She just looked back to the menu with a smile. He was beside himself. Here was this beautiful woman sitting next to him, getting ready to have dinner with him… and she seems to be attracted to him.

“Are you all ready to order?” the waitress asked as she walked up to the table. The sound of the waitress’s voice broke his amazement. The other driver began placing her order. He sat there watching her mouth and she told the waitress what she wanted, and listening to her voice.

“And for you sir?”

“Oh, I’ll have the same,” he stated with as much composure as possible.

“OK folks I’ll get that order right in for ya,” the waitress said as she turned to walk away from the table.

She took out a cigarette and lit it. “Ya know, I’m usually not as friendly as this with drivers I just meet, but there’s something about you… I just can’t place it… but I get this… vibe… that it seems like we’ve known each other before,” she said as she just stared at the ash tray in front of them.

“I was just happy you decided to eat with me, but I know what you’re saying, it’s a weird feeling… like I can trust you,” he responded as he lit his own cigarette, and watched her. She looked him in the eyes again. This time he noticed a little glint with the softness.

She put her hand on his leg and spoke, “Exactly.” He looked down and her hand then back at her face. She blushed and looked away, “Oh… I’m sorry… I… just… got this feeling-” he cut her off.

“It’s ok, I got that feeling too,” he said softly as he reached over to softly turn her head to look into her eyes. Then she saw it… and he knew it. The same softness and glint in his eyes as she had in hers. “If you didn’t do that I would have done something. I dunno what but something,” he smiled.

“Here you go folks, enjoy,” the waitress stated. She set the plates in front of them and walked away.

They sat there eating in a comfortable silence. He noticed that she was eating her food the same way he was. She’d eat one item off of her plate at a time, starting with the vegetables, then the mashed potatoes, and saving the best part, the steak, for last. She even cut her steak the same way. Some people cut the entire steak into bite size pieces all at once, then eat it. They would cut off one bite sized piece at a time so they could savor the flavor while cutting off another piece.

As they finished eating, they looked into each other’s eyes again. They just sat there, staring… looking into each other’s eyes for what seemed like 5-10 minutes. They weren’t looking at the other one’s eyes though, they were looking at each other’s soul, and all either one of them saw, was warmth. Then with almost no thought, they leaned forward and embraced each other with a soft passionate kiss. Their arms wrapped around each other’s torso, pulling them together, closer. Then, with both of them floating with the clouds, the kiss ended. They looked away from each other only to see the waitress standing there smiling as she put the check on the table, and walked away.

“Oh wow,” she said while trying to catch her breath.

“You can say that again,” he said while also trying to catch his breath.

“Oh wow!” she exclaimed with a smile. He couldn’t help but smile back.

“Would you mind-” he started before she cut him off.

“Coming back to my truck?” she finished with a smile.

“Well, it doesn’t matter who’s truck we go back to,” he said with a smile.

“Yes sweety, it does,” she laughed, “I remember saying that I wasn’t going to come back to your truck, and I don’t plan on eating my words, but I would like some desert with you… in my truck.” He was stupefied with her words. All he could do was sit there, stare and nod, then he snapped out of it.

“Well… sounds like a great desert, very little clean up, and we don’t even need a spoon!” he laughed.

“C’mon, let’s go,” she led him from the booth, anxious to get started, and forgot to pick up the check, he remembered though.

“You think we should take care of this,” he asked her showing the check with a smile.

“Oh my, I forgot,” she laughed as they stopped at the cashier. He handed the ticket to the cashier, “Can we get-” she began until he looked at her and put his index finger on her lips. Then he took out his wallet and paid for both of their meals. This time she was in shock, she didn’t expect him to pay for her meal, she stood there staring at him, and began thinking, “Where has this man been, and how did he get so charming?”
