I was recently asking my friends for ideas on what to blog about.  I got some good responses back.  One of them was a gentle reminder of something I said I would post about.  RLC Marriage.  She (Verns_Dream) then sent me her story, a bit of a long one.  I might even post her story, since it is quite a nice one. 

A lot of new people think that the RLC marriage is kind of odd.  It is a virtual world, why get married?  That brings me to one thing I kind of reiterate among my posts, RLC is different things to different people.  In Verns_Dream's story, she tells about when she was new, she could not understand an RLC marriage.  You can almost hear her opinion change as she writes about the love she meets in RLC.

For me, I was the same.  I could not understand why anyone would want to get married in a virtual world.  The more I talk to my friends who are getting married in RLC, the more I can understand it.  I am more on the fence about getting married in RLC than I was even a couple of months ago.

So, a new person thinks, 'why the fuck would you want to ruin such a good thing?'  I have actually had a few people tell me that.  It is practically an all you can eat buffet of sex.  Guilt-free, disease free, consequence free, hot sex, with as many partners as you can find.  As long as you are savvy enough to find them, you can get laid.  (read my 'how to (and not to) approach women in RLC').  Who the hell in their right mind would want to tie themselves down to one person in this awesome fantasy land?  I know I have thought that a few times.

Once you get good at finding willing participants in the hot sex game, and you go to town, getting laid as many times as your hand (or toys) will allow.  Fucking until your hand is raw, or batteries are dead.  After awhile... believe it or not.. you get tired of it.  I am a sex freak.  I love sex.  It is awesome.  I will do ANYTHING my partner wants, with only a few (very few) restrictions.  And I got tired of sex all the time... and I was getting it almost anytime I wanted.  I was accused of having a harem.  Then that became a running joke, that I had a harem.  All the women I had sex with KNEW I was having sex with others, and sometimes I had more than just one or two at one time.  I didn't just jump in bed with anything with two legs, I was a bit picky.  After awhile, I just got tired of it. 

It is not that I didn't find the ladies I was with absolutely interesting.  I just didn't feel like doing it anymore.  And that is where I am today.  That brings me to the whole, me now being able to see the progression to marriage in RLC.  I saw how Verns_Dream made the same progression, all the way to marriage.  And she is THRILLED to be getting married.

I think it boils down to one thing.  Most people just want to be loved.  RLC members share some general qualities and personalities.  Although the members of RLC have HUGE varying sets of qualities and personalities, there are still some commonalities in there.  I have not nailed it down as to what those qualities may be, but they are there.  Since there are some common grounds in RLC, people are bound to feel REAL love for another RLC member.  Just like in real life, that love matures.  It gets to a point, where the couple feels compelled to go that next step.  So, they get married.

I understand it now.  I am not sure if I am willing to go that far at this point, but I fully understand it.  I think that the only way I could be in an RLC marriage, is if I were going to be married to that person in real life.  If that happens, I will make DAMN sure that all of my RLC friends get an invite to the wedding, in RLC AND RL :).
