I am over 21, and I can prove it. Are you, can you prove it? I am glad that the age verification system is in place on RLC. More importantly, I am thrilled that they actually PRACTICE it. RLC is truly an adult's world. It is meant for adults, and if my son (15, soon) got in there, he would be grounded until he was 18. Granted, a minor can skate by as a basic member, but then, they can't see or do any naked stuff.
Recently, a friend of mine, __Moon__, was helping a guy get a VIP. She has sent me her Yahoo IM Transcripts, and the entire story. I am not going to post the IM. What follows is what she told me (copied with permission):
Me and several friends know <basic_member> in rlc as a handicapped person who was having difficulties getting to the top of the puzzle...or maze as some refer it. Before the new rlc got the super jump back it was impossible for him to get up there. Once we looked at his profile...we understood that he was in a wheelchair and that getting up there was a bigger task for him than most. So we all decided to earn 350 rays for him to become vip to get wings and such...and we also thought this would be a nice gift for someone who was dealt a bad card in life. So a bunch of my friends who hang out in the puzzle collected rays for a vip gift. Then he sent me an email stating he cannot get age verified ... so I sent everyone who donated rays back to them. After this he tells me he believes it will go through now. I respond by stating that if he does not age verify first...none of us will be collecting rays for his vip. So he informs me two days ago that he has age verified and they have accepted this....so I get the rays together and buy a bottle of booze for him. We then find out they denied him again! WTF? He said he was age verified! So I was left trying to pay people back for their donations. This is not acceptable...be careful who you become friends with...and check everyone out!
There is a lot more to that story, but you get the idea. She sent me the picture of the ID he was trying to use, and you couldn't even tell what it was, let alone who was on it. The bottom line is, if you are truly old enough, then you can prove it with out a problem. Well, most of the time it is true.
I also have a couple of friends that ARE over 21. One of them had a lot of issues, and did everything she was supposed to, and it was a lot of hassle to get age verified. Another friend of mine lives in the UK, and she does not have a license to drive. I am not sure how things work out there, but it took her months to get the correct ID to send to RLC. But, she is now VIP, too.
So, my basic thought on this is, it truly is a good thing. I did not have any issues with verification, so I don't think much about it. It sucks when it is an inconvenience to people who are adults, and want to be VIP in RLC. But, I will take that inconvenience in a heartbeat, over the alternative. If that system where not in place and scrutinized, just think of all the teenagers who would be running around RLC. We have enough drama in there! It would be 100 times worse if there were a lot of 13-17 year old kids.
Hurray for Age Verification!
